Rome2rio gives the driving distance as 20 km, taking about 26 minutes.[3] Its estimates from the other main bases are 21 km and about 33 minutes from Puerto del Carmen, 33 km and about 41 minutes from Arrecife, 28 km and about 37 minutes from Lanzarote Airport, and 39 km and about 46 minutes from Costa Teguise.[4][5][6][7]
The park authority describes the roads in. From Puerto del Carmen, the route follows the LZ-504 to Tías, then the LZ-2 to Yaiza, turning onto the LZ-67 for the national park.[8] From Costa Teguise, its suggested access is the LZ-14 to the Arrecife ring road, the LZ-20 to Tinajo and then the LZ-67, which reaches the Mancha Blanca visitor centre first.[8] The LZ-67, which connects Tinajo and Yaiza, gives access to the park's different facilities.[9]
Coming from Yaiza along the LZ-67, the park authority places the entrance gate to the Montañas del Fuego tourist centre 2.5 km past the Echadero de los Camellos camel station.[8] Access points to the national park carry signs with César Manrique's El Diablo logo, made from the timber of decommissioned boats.[8]

How far Timanfaya is from the cruise port
Rome2rio gives the drive from Arrecife Port to Timanfaya National Park as 34 km, taking about 43 minutes.[10] Most cruise ships now dock at La Boca de Puerto Naos, which is closer to the city than the berths at the commercial port.[11] That cruise dock was expanded in 2024 with a 12-million-euro investment that added 150 linear metres and a new operating ramp.[12]
GetYourGuide also lists tours built around a ship's call. Timanfaya And El Golfo For Cruise Passengers (Mornings) runs 4.5 hours with pickup included and 2 pickup location options, from US$70.[13] Arrecife: Timanfaya and Green Lagoon for Cruise Passengers runs 2.5 to 5 hours from US$57, with stops at Timanfaya National Park, the Green Lagoon, Casa Museo y Monumento al Campesino and La Geria.[14]
Passengers who plan their own transport have other options at the port. Car-hire companies such as Cicar and TopCar keep offices and parking areas at the dockside inside the port itself.[12] No public transport service goes into the national park, but bus lines reach Tinajo and Yaiza, and from there a taxi can take you to the points of interest.[9]
First stop: Timanfaya National Park
CACT states that it is not permitted to explore Timanfaya National Park freely by car or on foot, to protect its fragile ecosystem.[15] Its general Montañas del Fuego ticket includes a 35-minute coach route, geothermal demonstrations, access to Islote de Hilario and a volcanic landscape viewpoint.[16] The Canary Islands park authority gives the same coach route as 12 km and 45 minutes, while CACT's FAQ says the buses leave Islote de Hilario every 20 minutes for a ride of about 40 minutes.[15][17]
The Route of the Volcanoes was conceived by César Manrique and comes with an audio narrative.[16] CACT's visitor guide puts the Montañas del Fuego visit at approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, while its ticket-booking card shows a 90-minute slot.[16] On Islote de Hilario, MITECO lists a car park, cafeteria, restaurant, souvenir shop and restrooms.[18]

Cueva de los Verdes, then Jameos del Agua
Cueva de los Verdes is a guided visit in Spanish and English through an atmosphere designed by artist Jesús Soto, passing through the Auditorium.[19] CACT gives the visit about 50 minutes, and the cave belongs to a hollow lava conduit more than seven kilometres long, the same system as Jameos del Agua.[19] The route includes uneven paths, stairs, narrow spaces and low ceilings; CACT says it is not accessible to people with reduced mobility and is not recommended for people with claustrophobia.[19]
Jameos del Agua's general ticket includes the descent through the Jameo Chico, the lake of the blind crabs, a visit to the Jameo Grande and access to the Auditorium.[20] The lake forms as seawater filters through fissures in the volcanic tube, and its level follows the tides.[20] In the Jameo Grande, the darkness of the cave opens onto an outdoor garden with palm trees, fig trees and cacti, and a white pool.[20] Visitors are asked not to throw coins or other objects into the water, to protect the habitat of the endemic Munidopsis polymorpha.[20]

CACT's ticket page gives Montañas del Fuego 09:30 to 15:45, every day; Turismo Lanzarote's sightseeing page gives 09:00 a.m. to 04:45 p.m.; and MITECO's park page gives 9:00 to 17:00.[16][18][21] CACT also states that Montañas del Fuego is open 365 days a year.[16] Turismo Lanzarote's practical listing names 1 p.m. as its recommended time for the visit.[22]
At the later stops, CACT lists Cueva de los Verdes at 09:30 to 16:45 every day and Jameos del Agua at 10:00 to 18:00 every day, with last admission to Jameos at 17:15.[19][20] Booking a fixed date and time online is mandatory for Cueva de los Verdes and Montañas del Fuego.[23]
For anyone holding their own timed ticket, CACT asks visitors to arrive at the centre 15 minutes before the time in their booking, and there are no waiting areas on site for early arrivals.[15] Arriving outside the scheduled time means the ticket is no longer valid, and changes and refunds are not allowed.[15]
