Which tours combine Timanfaya with El Golfo?
The South Tour: Timanfaya National Park lists El Golfo, Timanfaya National Park and La Geria in 8 hours, with pickup included and skip-the-ticket-line entry, from US$94.[2] The Timanfaya Park and Jameos del Agua Full-Day Tour starts its stop list at El Golfo, then Timanfaya National Park, the Islet of Hilario and Jameos del Agua, over 9 to 10 hours from US$86.[13]
Several tours name the Green Lagoon instead. Arrecife: Timanfaya and Green Lagoon for Cruise Passengers lists it between Timanfaya and La Geria, from US$57, and the 5-Hour Timanfaya National Park Southern Tour ends at the Green Lagoon after La Geria and the park, from US$59.[1][14] The Guided Day Trip to Timanfaya Park & Lago Verde lists El Lago Verde, Timanfaya National Park and La Geria in 8 hours, from US$80.[15]
The Full-Day Island Highlights Tour ends at the Mirador del Charco de los Clicos after Timanfaya National Park, runs 9 hours and holds 4.66 from 3,141 reviews, from US$59.[16] For a private group, the Timanfaya, El Golfo, and Los Hervideros Tour lists 4 hours from US$218, with no reviews yet.[17] The tour booked from this site takes a different route: Timanfaya National Park, Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua.[18]
The Green Lagoon at El Golfo
The Green Lagoon is the Charco de Los Clicos, on the west coast of the Yaiza municipality, inside El Golfo, which is itself within the Parque Natural de Los Volcanes.[3] The Ayuntamiento de Yaiza describes it as a lagoon connected to the sea by underground cracks, separated from the sea by a sand beach, and green because of the large quantity of plant organisms suspended in it.[3]
The Ayuntamiento de Yaiza traces its name to clicos, an edible shellfish very abundant there in the past, which it says died out after two turtles were released into the water.[3] The Lanzarote Film Commission says a small path climbs to the Charco de los Clicos viewpoint, a landscape that has served as the backdrop for 14 films.[19]
Also on Yaiza's west coast, Los Hervideros is a stretch of cliffs with caves and blowholes formed by the 1730-1736 eruptions and sculpted by erosion, where the sea often breaks with particular force.[3] LanzaBuggy's Family Buggy route makes Los Hervideros its first stop, by El Golfo, describing a formation of lava caves by the ocean.[20]

Timanfaya National Park and La Geria
Lanzarote: Timanfaya National Park & La Geria Tour lists Timanfaya National Park, a viewpoint and La Geria in 5.5 hours, with pickup included, skip-the-ticket-line entry and 24 pickup location options, from US$73.[6] It holds 4.54 from 651 reviews.[6] La Geria also appears on the Green Lagoon cruise tour, the morning El Golfo cruise tour and the Guided Day Trip to Timanfaya Park & Lago Verde.[1][15][21]
La Geria is a wide surface in central Lanzarote, partly covered by recent lava from the 1730-36 eruption, with volcanic cones of different heights rising out of it.[3] The DO Lanzarote regulator says vines there are planted in individual holes because the lapilli layer can reach 3 metres in places, and they can stand up to 4 metres apart.[4]
The Lanzarote Film Commission places Volcán del Cuervo, the first of the Timanfaya eruptions, between Mozaga and Uga in the heart of the Protected Landscape of La Geria, and says Eternals (2020) was filmed there.[19]
Adding a local wine tasting
To pair Timanfaya National Park and local wine tasting, La Geria has wineries with their own visits. El Grifo, which markets itself on 250 years of history, sells a 120-minute Wine Lovers tour with a 6-wine tasting for adults only at €50 per person, limited to 12 people.[8][22] Its Tasting of Selected Wines is a 35-minute guided tasting of 5 wines for €30 per person, with no winery tour.[8]
El Grifo's self-guided Your Way audio tour costs €15 per person, lasts 45 minutes, includes 2 wines and is free for children under 17.[8] Bodega La Geria lists hours of 10:00 to 19:00 and tastings in Spanish, English and French, with visits that show how Malvasia wine is made.[11] GetYourGuide's Wine Lovers tasting tour at El Grifo lasts 2 hours, is limited to 10 participants and holds 4.92 from 359 reviews, from US$58.[23]
The wine carries its own island label. The DO Lanzarote appellation was recognised by an order dated 14 December 1993, and its logo, created by César Manrique, shows a black volcano seen from above with red lava and a golden circle.[24][25] The regulator says vines average 30 to 50 years old and the harvest is carried out without mechanization.[4]
14 films
The Charco de los Clicos viewpoint at El Golfo has served as the backdrop for 14 films, says the Lanzarote Film Commission.[19]
Timanfaya and the Janubio salt flats
The Janubio lagoon formed when the 1730-36 eruptions cut it off from the sea and a sand bar closed an inner pool.[3] The Ayuntamiento de Yaiza calls Janubio the largest and most important salt complex in the Canary Islands, and a refuge for many wading birds, including migratory species.[3]
Salinas de Janubio says it is the only salt works in the Canary Islands to have stayed active without interruption, with more than 127 years of work.[10] Its own guided visit runs in Spanish and English, is of low difficulty, and has no wheelchair access.[10]
None of the Timanfaya tours on this page lists Janubio, so the salt flats are a separate booking. GetYourGuide's Janubio Salt Flats Guided Tour lasts 1.5 hours and holds 4.71 from 279 reviews, from US$25, and Feeling Lanzarote Tours sells a 2-hour visit with a 90-minute guided walk and a salt and wine tasting, from €22.[5][26]
How long the combined day takes
Combined tours range from a few hours to a full day. The Green Lagoon cruise tour lists 2.5 to 5 hours, the morning El Golfo cruise tour 4.5 hours, and the Timanfaya & La Geria Tour 5.5 hours.[1][6][21] The Guided Day Trip to Timanfaya Park & Lago Verde and the South Tour each list 8 hours, and the Timanfaya Park and Jameos del Agua Full-Day Tour lists 9 to 10 hours.[2][13][15]
Inside the park, CACT's €30.00 general ticket includes a 35-minute coach route along the Route of the Volcanoes.[12] CACT gives that route as around 14 kilometres, while the Gobierno de Canarias park authority gives 12 km and 45 minutes.[12][27]
Opening hours differ by publisher: CACT gives 09:30 to 15:45 for Montañas del Fuego, and MITECO states 9:00 to 17:00.[12][28] On the full day that adds Jameos del Agua, CACT lists that centre as open 10:00 to 18:00, with last admission at 17:15.[29]
Which combination suits whom?
For the Green Lagoon on a shorter day, the Timanfaya and Green Lagoon cruise tour lists 2.5 to 5 hours from US$57, with a live guide in English, German and Spanish and 4.58 from 2,154 reviews.[1] The morning El Golfo cruise tour adds pickup, takes 4.5 hours and lists from US$70.[21]
For La Geria with pickup and skip-the-ticket-line entry, the Timanfaya & La Geria Tour lists 5.5 hours from US$73.[6] For El Golfo named as a stop, the South Tour lists 8 hours from US$94, and the Timanfaya Park and Jameos del Agua Full-Day Tour pairs El Golfo with Jameos del Agua from US$86.[2][13]
The tour booked from this site trades the coast for caves: 9 hours at Timanfaya National Park, Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua, from US$102, with 4.47 from 2,662 reviews.[18] CACT notes that the Cueva de los Verdes route is not accessible to people with reduced mobility.[30]
